Weekly Sketch #03

you
i’m supposed to know the best
i try

you
i’m supposed to love the best
i try

trying is just a frustrating game
when things never change

for you
i’m supposed to be my best self
and i try

for you
i’m supposed to move heaven and hell
and i try

trying is just a frustrating game
when things never change

trying amounts to a pointless game
when things never change

Measuring Up

Weekly Sketch #02

is it fun
is it fun
is it fun
to play with ways to say
i’m not measuring up

instead
you could be
at all direct
but then where’s
the power high in that

like a cat with a mouse
in it’s mouth
trying to get out
spit-wet and scared

get it over with

is it fun
is it fun
is it fun
to play with ways to say
i’m not measuring up

instead
you could be
at all direct
but then there’s
no power high in that

Hahahaha Funny Policeman

Weekly Sketch #01

the boys and girls
from serve and protect
come in the night
and steal your blankets

as proof you were there
(cuz) you don’t belong there
(and they joke)
you don’t belong anywhere

stripped of belongings
left in the cold
with no where to sleep
no where else safe go

and it’s not just cold
it’s three below.

hah hah hah hah
funny policeman says
move to florida
as he thinks about his warm bed
and you hang your head
you’re on your knees
frozen breath
stings your cheeks
hah hah hah hah hah hah
funny policeman

and it’s not just cold
it’s three below.

2017 Weekly Sketches

Happy New Year!

In an effort to break up a bit of a writers block and get some fresh material for a 2017/2018 record, I’ve decided to commit myself to putting out at least a sketch of a song each week. What better a place to air one’s dirty laundry than the internets. Right?

Different from my 2009 Feat 52 effort in which I often spent more time on production and arrangement, this year’s weekly sketches will probably focus more on simply getting ideas out.  2min+ if possible.

I’ll post new sketches each Monday.  Check in throughout the year here to see how I’ve kept up. All feedback encouraged!
