Feat 52: Week #16
wicked late.  pisser…  this new years resolution is officially kicking my ass.
just got a starter lapsteel this week.  unfortunately, it’s a bit harder than it looks.  i have a hard enough time singing in tune and now i’ve added an instrument to my collection that requires an ear for pitch.  great…

Feat 52: Week #13
Feat 52 has reached the end of it’s first quarter!! holy shit… didn’t think it would take this much out of me…
this week’s song is about moving… and maybe also about not really having any good allies in the process. but at the end of it all, the move is for the right reason…

Outros

About 2 months ago i signed up to take part in The RPM Challenge.  I’ve finally gotten around to uploading the tracks for the resulting record Outros to my rpm challenge profile.  Per the rules of the challenge, the entire record was written and recorded in february.  It started out far too leisurely and ended in a crash-and-burn fashion, the likes of which i haven’t experienced since finals in college.  Needless to say, while i’m proud of what some of the tracks became, others are just… interesting.
check it out.  let me know what you think.

Feat 52: Week #12
ever notice that when you start listening to and consoling a friend, someone in a rough patch, that you at some point get around to talking about yourself? “yeah, that happened to me… this is what i did/said/felt…” etc.
no? just me then. i’m the only jerk in the room…
not the kind of song i typically write. i don’t usually… well… pop rock.

Feat 52: Week #11

another song that was born in a conversation i had with my friend sarah.  there was a piece on npr earlier this week about another great american export: the hatred of our own bodies. it is, after all, the american way. shut up, be productive, buy lots of shit, and cheat death/aging along the way.  no wonder we’re more depressed and alone these days than ever before.

Feat 52: Week #9

a short sketch that came together a few days ago… a memory of an outdoor record sale…
